Las Palmas De Gran Canaria Airport
Gran Canaria Island, Canary Islands
Getting There
Usually, most visitors will arrive by taxi or bus transfer, you can make your way quick and easy into and through the check-in and customs. Our youngest was terrified of the lady using the handheld body scanner.
If you choose to rent a car, you can rent one there at Gran Canaria Airport although it’s quicker to book online first. When arriving you can grab a taxi and get to the centre of Las Palma in just 20 minutes. Official taxis can be spotted by their blue and red stripe and coat of arms of Las Palmas City and should be properly metred, find these at the airport’s official taxi rank. Fee’s info can be found here.

There are plenty of shops selling a range of items including duty-free products, there are various food outlets selling reasonably priced snacks and meals from various cuisines. There are also a few vending machines and small arcade type games such as air hockey in the alcoves along with the terminal.
This is quite a busy airport but we found a really nice play area right near our terminal (level 1) that kids of all ages were playing in, the play area was fenced in playful colours with a modern aircraft and holiday theme with a soft floor to help the little ones. I also have to mention how clean and tidy the area was. There are rows of seats surrounding the play area so parents can take a seat but still keep an eagle eye on them. The kids really enjoyed it making the tedious task of waiting to go quickly.
Good to know
I don’t think hiring a car is really necessary, there are plenty of local buses, and taxis and most attractions have a bus that picks up locally.
