Naples International Airport

Italy, Italian Republic

Naples Airport, located in southern Italy is the countries 5th busiest airport, its offical name is actually officially named Aeroporto di Napoli-Capodichino Ugo Niutta, after WWI pilot Ugo Niutta.

Getting there

Train: The nearest station is 3 miles away at Naples Piazza Garibaldi, if you take a taxi pay no more than €20 or take the bus for €2, the journey takes about 10 to 15 minutes. The train takes roughly 1 hour and should cost no more than €10.

Taxi: There are plenty of taxis at the airport if you're going to take a taxi it’s best to pre-book and lock in a price, the Italian taxi drivers are notorious for overcharging tourists so be careful, agree on a price, translate the fee list or pre-book transfers.

Bus: Catch the €5 bus from the airport - there is one every 20 minutes to Garibaldi. Change to catch the bus to Sorrento, these are every 4 hours so plan your journey well! The bus costs around €7 and the whole journey will take almost 3 hours!

Amenities

Wi-Fi - As long as you register you can enjoy 24 hours of free Wi-Fi.

There's a whole host of shops at this airport most being on the ground floor departure lounge before going through check and customs including a hairdresser and an optician, there are also a few on the first floor. We stopped at I'Amme for a sandwich to take on the plane.

At the time of writing the Airport VIP lounge was being refurbished and hoping to reopen in September 2020, suffices to say they have one.

Good to know

If you think you may need cash, get it before you leave, all the cash machines in and near the airport charge a fee and you can guarantee the one's outside are out of order or have a queue, once you leave you can't get back in!

Naples seems quite a chilled environment considering how busy it is, there is plenty of seating and has a shopping centre feel to it.
